Alexander McQueen will pick up a posthumous award at tonight’s British Fashion Awards.
With a celebrity following a mile long and even more industry fans, the late designer made a tremendous impact on style internationally.
So which prize will McQueen’s house claim?
The British Fashion Council has awarded the designer Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design, and will celebrate his most iconic pieces in a film hosted by photographer Nick Knight.
“This film is my way of speaking about a very unique and important person who changed my life. My desire was to speak in some way about the dark and the light contained within Lee, and within us all,” Nick Knight told British Vogue.
The BFC’s chairman Harold Tillman said of the award: “There was only one person we felt we could recognise with this award this year — Lee McQueen.”
