Kate Phelan quits British Vogue for Topshop

Kate Phelan, the long-serving fashion director of British Vogue has become the latest magazine editor to defect from the editorial side of the fashion business to the world of retail.

Topshop have today announced that the leading stylist – widely regarded as one of the greatest of her generation – will join the high street store as their creative director.

Phelan has served 18 years at British Vogue working her way up from fashion assistant to take the helm of the fashion team alongside co-fashion director Lucinda Chambers.

Her instinctive knack of divining the fashion tribes of tomorrow has made her award-winning work instantly recognisable within the monthly fashion bible and throughout the industry as a whole.
