Copy Cat Shoes?!!!

This season has seen a whole new array of fantastic shoes! As London, Paris, and New York fashion week’s have dazzled us with some beautiful designs… I’m definitely a shoe delight kinda gal so naturally am in love (like most of the fashion world right now) with Mui Mui’s GORGEOUS $890 shoe boot. The curved heel, the glitter, the perfect colours!!! What a lovely way to start the season, you can imagine my utter delight when I discovered Steve Madden released a cheaper (sexier) version of the shoe… Oh no he didn’t!!! 🙂

Notice the same suede, faux straps, and ofcourse the glitter… The fashion world was taken aback last week when Steve debuted these beauties! And wait for it.. there’s more!

YES he did them in black too! Regardless of the similarities and differences the ‘copycat’ shoe promises to reignite an ongoing debate over designers’ copyright.

A bill, called the Innovative Design Protection and Piracy Prevent Act, which would prevent rival brands from imitation other designers’ work for three years, is expected to pass this autumn. It has the support of major industry bodies including the Council of Fashion Designers of America and the American Apparel and Footwear Association… Now I’m not quite sure how I feel about this whole copy cat in the industry drama…?? What do you guys make of all of this hoooharr?!!

  1. I hate to say this but I think I like the Steve Madden shoe better!!

  2. I understand the need to protect your designs. But does that mean an exact copy or one that changes things here or there? Look at your shoe example. One shoe has straps criss crossing while the other features an ankle strap. Is that an exact copy or a round about copy?
