We’ve already reported this week about the Chanel crystal-adorned bangles showcased in the AW12 catwalk show earlier this month during Paris Fashion Week bear a striking resemblance to the crystal block cuffs in Pamela Love’s Fall 2011 collection.
But it seems it not just the luxury brands getting into bother this week, young designer Yasmin discovered that high-street giant Topshop are selling a dress a little too similar to one of her own .
Posting “When bad things happen to good designers #Topshopstealsdesigns” on her Twitter page this morning, the 24-year-old British designer added a picture of a dress from Topshop’s “Dress Me Up” range which bears a striking resemblance to one of Kianfar’s spring/summer 2011 designs, albeit in a different colour.
Kianfar, who graduated from Central Saint Martins has become a one to watch despite having only released four small collections. The designer’s delicate laser-cutting has become her signature feature of her designs and is available exclusively at Browns.
Topshop’s managing director, Mary Homer announced the following this afternoon:
“The style in question has been removed from sale with immediate effect. We apologise for any misinterpretation of the design and its similarity to Yasmin Kianfar’s work.”
We much prefer Yasmin Kianfar’s design anyway.
What do you think about this weeks accusations of copying?
