Alice Temperley designer has announced that she is teaming up with John Lewis to create a new, more affordable range, Somerset by Alice Temperley, for the autumn/winter 2012 season.
The 60-piece range will launch on September 4 in selected stores with a second drop mainly dedicated to party-wear launching in October. Prices will start from £29 for a scarf and £99 for a day dress, ranging to £1,000 for a sheepskin coat.

Temperley’s signature design influences, from Victorian accents and lace embellishment to military hardware will feature in the collection.
“I wanted it to be very much a collection of essentials and to design a collection that would provide a feminine and functional wardrobe for women in their everyday life” said Temperley. “We have spent the last ten years building our lines and Somerset will compliment our existing collections; it is a very accessible product that will take our aesthetic to a wider audience.”
Temperley’s catwalk creations normally retail from upwards of £495 for a slik blouse, with romantic dresses fetching anywhere between £995 to £4,900.
Jo Hooper, head of womenswear buying at John Lewis said the retailer has worked “incredibly hard” to ensure the quality and fabrication standards of the range meets high expectations.
But with Temperly’s designs adorning those on the red carpet and the royals, there is little doubt that the range will meet those high expectations?
