Blake Lively for Gucci Premiere advert.

Gucci recently announced that it had signed up ‘Gossip Girl’ star Blake Lively to front the campaign for its new couture-inspired scent, Gucci Première. And the images have already been leaked.

Captured by fashion photography duo Mert and Marcus, the black and white ad reeks of Old Hollywood glamour – an aesthetic which was very much key to Gucci.

Named after Gucci’s couture line, Gucci Première is a scent for a woman “living her moment, whether it’s on the red carpet or at a private dinner”, according to the brand’s creative director, Frida Giannini.

The new scent is set to launch first in the UK at the end of the month exclusively at Harrods and Selfridges before going on general sale in September.

Daphne Guinness fashion auction raise £476,800.

Daphne Guinness put 102 lots from her unique, designer-filled wardrobe up for sale to benefit the Isabella Blow Foundation in memory of her late fashion editor friend.

The top lot of the sale was “Daphne Guinness”, a portrait taken by fashion photographer Mario Testino for British Vogue in 2008 which sold for £133,250, setting a new world record.

An Alexander McQueen ivory, empire-line gown along with a photograph by Mat Collishaw of Guinness wearing the dress featured in UK Harper’s Bazaar magazine earlier this year fetched £85,250.

“As I watched the auction from invisible wings this evening, I crossed my fingers and toes” said Guinness on the auction.

Another world record breaking sale came from piece from the now defunct  Christian Lacroix label. The Spanish-style white lace dress with black matador jacket was bought by a private bidder in the US for £16,250.

Guinness was helped by Christie’s specialists in picking pieces from her wardrobe which best embodied her personal style with the aim of raising funds to continue the work of Blow in supporting new and emerging fashion and art talent.

Guinness said she was “overwhelmed” by the response to the auction, which was estimated to raise in the region of £100,000.

Lady Gaga was a successful bidder, although what she won remains undisclosed.

“I’m particularly moved by Lady Gaga’s support for the Foundation” said Guinness. “I like her very much, and it’s lovely to see the nascent beginnings of something that may help other people.”

A Sarah Jessica Parker and Victoria Beckham collaboration?

Rumors have been circulating that the Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker has teamed up with Spice Girl Victoria Beckham to create a joint collection.

According to Entertainment Wise, the icons of style are already in secret talks about collaborating on a line of clothing geared towards women of all ages.

There is clearly a mutual appreciation. Back in 2010 Victoria Beckham said ‘I’m so Sarah Jessica Parker,’  ‘I just am. I have dressed her a couple of times and I have met her.’ Whilst Sarah Jessica Parker has worn one of the Victoria Beckham’s dresses when she attended an exclusive White House dinner and her as ‘the definition of an ideal that none of us will ever achieve. For the rest of us the only way of being a mother is to be in a massive mess.’

Jean Paul Gaultier Releases A Tattooed Diet Coke Bottle

Jean Paul Gaultier, the recently-appointed creative director of Diet Coke, just released the third design in a set of limited-edition bottles that will be sold in Europe this month.

The first two limited-edition bottles designed by Gaultier were inspired by day and night, and featured his signature Breton stripes and conical bra. The newest edition is more similar to the night-inspired bottle, showcasing tattoo art in a corset shape.

Coca-Cola is no stranger to designer collaborations. They love to have designers create artsy bottles for them — before Jean Paul Gaultier was Karl Lagerfeld.

YSL to change its name

Yves Saint Laurent will drop the ‘Yves’ from their name, the brand has confirmed.

Newly-appointed creative director Hedi Slimane is keen to “thrust Saint Laurent into a new era modern”, reports WWD , and thinks removing the founder of the brand’s first name from the famous moniker is the way forward.

The house will be rebranded Saint Laurent Paris, although the iconic YSL logo will remain the same. The move is not be an entirely new one, the majority of the major fashion houses go by a singular surname – Versace, Gucci, Chanel, Prada.

Hedi Slimane was given “total creative responsibility for the brand image and all its collections” and is said to be focusing on “recapturing the impulses that inspired the founder to launch the Saint Laurent Rive Gauche ready-to-wear line in 1966 – among them youth, freedom and modernity.”
