Monthly Archives: October 2012

Kylie Minogue has been recognised as much for her style as she has for her chart-topping music. From those gold hot pants to that white jumpsuit, she’s now set to take a look back over the wardrobe choices that have come to characterise the various eras of her 25-year career.

The coffee table book, titled Kylie/Fashion, has been curated by William Baker, the pop star’s long-standing creative director, and features an introduction written by Jean Paul Gaultier, with whom she has worked many times. It also includes texts by the likes of Dolce & Gabbana – who created the outfits for her 2011 ‘Aphrodite’ tour – Christopher Kane, Giles Deacon, Christian Louboutin and Stella McCartney.

“This book charts my relationship with some of the most talented people in fashion throughout my career,” says Minogue. “It makes me very proud to see gathered together all the great designers and houses I’ve worked with over the years. Looking through my personal archives has been a real trip down memory lane and it is the fashion that brings back moments and memories of the last twenty-five years.”

The book features iconic images as well as unseen archive photographs, fashion sketches and video stills.

Kylie/Fashion is released on November 19, published by Thames & Hudson.

Penelope and Monica Cruz design Agent Provocateur diffusion line

Actress Penelope Cruz and her younger sister Monica have collaborated with Agent Provocateur to produce L’Agent, a diffusion line of the luxury lingerie brand.

The collection will feature 15 styles, each of which will have seven or eight pieces – such as briefs, thing and corsets – with an average price at £40, which is less than half the price of the label’s main line, which averages at £95.

Monica Cruz, the younger sister of Oscar-winning actress Penelope, appears in the current campaign for the brand.

“It’s a proper design collaboration. They’ve been bringing in swatches and old vintage pieces and working with the design team,” Garry Hogarth, the brand’s chief executive officer told WWD , adding that the sisters were even involved in the labels and hangers.

“It is so exciting for me and Mónica to embark on this new adventure,” said Penélope Cruz. “We have always been huge fans of Agent Provocateur and both of us are very much looking forward to this long-term collaboration. We feel extremely happy to become part of this great team.”

Hogarth, who says the new line is “a little younger… but very wearable, very sexy and with the handwriting of Agent Provocateur”.

Although stockists and launch dates have not yet been announced, we can probably see the collection in department stores John Lewis, Selfridges and Harrods.

Victoria Beckham photo shoot at Coco Chanel’s house

Victoria Beckham, the 38-year-old mother-of-four had been asked by Elle France to appear in an exclusive cover shoot, alongside design maverick Karl Lagerfeld.

Shot by Karl Largerfeld at 31 Rue Cambon, the home of the late Coco Chanel, Victoria Beckham is seen standing on a plush staircase – the hotspot where the French fashion icon used to stand and spy on her audience during shows

Modelling a fitted black sweater by Lanvin and underwear by Eres, teamed with Chanel jewellery and sky-high boots by Giuseppe Zanotti Design.

Another shot saw the previous Spice Girl standing alone on the hallowed staircase in just the Eres pants, a white Fendi shirt and her own optical collection, her lithe legs lengthened by black Sergio Rossi stilettos.

Commenting on the finished product, Beckham gushed: “I am thrilled to shoot with Karl. I have so much respect for him and I find him so inspiring.”

“To shoot in Coco Chanel’s apartment in the clothes of the house of Chanel is really a dream come true,” Beckham continued.

Karl Lagerfeld, a man noted for his inability to hush ill-opinion on women, praised the former pop star, saying: “Victoria has an innate sense of style. She knows what she likes, and knows what is good for her.”
