Playing Victoria Beckham would be a ‘career killer’

Model of the moment Cara Delevingne might be in demand, but after being approached to play Victoria Beckham in the upcoming West End musical Viva Forever, she was advised by her agent that it would be a “career killer.”

The Burberry and Chanel model said: “They said I looked like her and I said, ‘That’s not cool, that’s really mean.”

She recently told Grazia : “I want to be in movies, directing movies, writing movies. I’d love to be in a movie with Meryl Streep or Martin Scorsese. There are so many different things I want to do like a possessed child or an evil something, I don’t know….”

Yoko Ono’s bizarre menswear collection.

A collection of drawings created as a wedding present for Beatles singer John Lennon in 1969 entitled “Yoko Ono’s Fashions for Men 1969-2012” has inspired Yoko’s foray into menswear design.

And the collection is a little bizarre. The collection includes a mesh shirt that doesn’t have any shoulders, which comes in black, blue and pink, a shirt with the nipples cut out, a jockstrap with an LED light, and a strange perspex board that you wear topless around your neck.

Opening Ceremony, which recently launched in London’s Covent Garden, will stock the 18-piece collection from early December at 35 King Street, London WC2E 8JG.

Givenchy for H&M???

Swedish retailer H&M released its latest designer collaboration with Maison Martin Margiela less than two weeks ago, but already rumours have already started to who could be the next collaborator.

Rumours have today pointed to Givenchy, the storied French haute couture and ready-to-wear label fronted by Italian designer Riccardo Tisci.

“Rumours straight from the Givenchy head quarters have it they will collaborate with H&M next year” read a message posted on the Fashion Industry Confesstions tumblr, which has since been re tweeted and re bloged from models and fashion editors.

However H&M creative adviser Margareta Van Den Bosch, said at the Maison Martin Margiela launch in New York last month,
“We will not have any [collaborations] for spring [2013]. We decided to skip it, as we have had so many this year. So it’ll be something for next November.”

H&M have had collaborated this year alone with the likes of Marni , Versace and Maison Martin Margiela, as well as an underwear line with David Beckham.

Givenchy have denied that the collaboration is happening.

We’ll have to watch this space…

The male model who’s a woman

New York-based art-maker Casey Legler has been signed to Ford Models exclusively as a male model and is thought to be the only woman to model exclusively as a man.

She was signed to top agency Ford Models men’s division this summer after being cast as a man last-minute in a shoot photographed by her friend Cass Bird for Muse magazine, alongside Victoria’s Secret ‘Angel’ Candice Swanepoel.

“We have very specific ways in which we identify ourselves as man or woman and I think sometimes those can be limiting,” French-born Legler says in a video interview for Time magazine. “It would be a lovely place if we didn’t necessarily jump to conclusions because someone wants to wear a dress or because someone wants to wear pants.”

Casey said she is first and foremost an art-maker, and points out how this makes her modelling accessible. “I think that’s what people are responding to in seeing me on the men’s board,” she explains. “It speaks to this notion of freedom; there’s something really bold about that, that it really is saying, look: there is also this other way, and it’s really rad.”

Casey isn’t the only model who has faded the gender lines. Andrej Pejic, the androgynous, bleached-blonde twenty-something male who has collected countless headlines for modelling as a women when in fact he’s a man.

What do you think? Do you think fashion really has to be gender specific?

Cara Delevingne stars in DSquared2’s short film.

Model of the moment Cara Delevingne has been snapped up by DSquared2 for a short film – titled ‘Ultimate Scream’ – promoting their forthcoming Resort campaign.

The 20-year-old has said to be the perfect choice for the Senio Zaprider directed video, channels a vamped-up 90’s vibe, in the style of 1996 horror film Scream.

With a soundtrack of ‘Scream Miami’ remixed by Stefano Riva, screen shots skip so rapidly from shoes to bikini to gold bling and back again.
