The Spanish fashion house Loewe has collaborated with Japanese avant-garde designer Junya Watanabe to create capsule collections for both men and women.
The collaboration comes as part of the ‘The Year of Spain in Japan’ a tourism initiative which aims to boost Spain’s profile. The year of festivities mark the first Japanese ship that arrived on Spanish shores four centuries ago.
A number of items from the collections, which include both clothing and handbags, will be shown at Watanabe’s upcoming Paris Fashion Week show, with the collections slated to launch in Dover Street Market’s Tokyo store and Loewe stores in September, reports WWD .
The cultural celebrations also coincide with Loewe’s 40th anniversary in Japan. The Madrid-based fashion house is currently headed by British designer Stuart Vevers.
