Beyonce’s TV advert for H&M

Check out Beyonce’s TV advert for H&M, for which she’s created a full-on music video.

“I’ve always liked H&M’s focus on fun and affordable fashion. I really loved the concept we collaborated on to explore the different emotions of women represented by the four elements – fire, water, earth and wind,” says the singer. “It was a beautiful shoot on a tropical island. It felt more like making a video than a commercial.”

Viktor & Rolf return to Haute Couture schedule

Dutch duo Viktor & Rolf have just announced that they will be returning to the Haute Couture schedule. The design house joins Giambattista Valli, Elie Saab, Valentino, Versace and Armani as a Correspondent Member in the Haute Couture schedule, an honour which is reserved for foreign couturiers.

The pair last showed couture in 1999, following a ready-to-wear ‘strike’ that they actioned in 1996 after feeling the pressure of creating a new ready-to-wear collection every six months. They returned to ready-to-wear in 2000 after receiving rave reviews for their couture pieces and wishing to boost the brand’s income.

Loewe launch Tales from Spain

Loewe will launch a more youthful and more accessibly-priced collection, named Tales Of Spain, on May 22nd which will be available exclusively at Selfridges with prices ranging between £125 and £895.

The one-off range can be seen for the first time through a short film designed to reflect the vibrancy and energy of the designs.

“It’s a youthful take on one of the signatures of Loewe and I referenced prints from our archive from the Seventies and Eighties,” Loewe creative director Stuart Vevers told Vogue. “We have a great archive of over 5,000 silk scarves, which I think gives us a real legitimacy in print. It was important that the references were moved on and made relevant for today.”

“I wanted the collection to be colourful, youthful and optimistic,” said Vevers. “We chose to clash three different prints together and use bold, bright colours. All of the prints share a florid, melodramatic form that make a shameless appeal to the senses – they’re bold but feminine.”

Christian Lacroix To Design Couture Collection for Schiaparelli

Christian Lacroix will design a one-off, 15-piece couture collection for the house of Schiaparelli honouring the legacy of designer Elsa Schiaparelli.

The collection will be unveiled in July during the couture shows in Paris, at 21 Place Vendôme – the location of Schiaparelli’s original workshop. Each of the unique pieces will be reinterpretations of the late designer’s most famous creations.

“In this persona incarnating a true aristocrat, one finds a spirit where mathematics and literature as well as poetry coexist: Elsa is a sacred sphinx who never ceases to interrogate us while offering us new enigmas as answers,” said Lacroix. “Art, theatre and cinema – my wish is to reposition Elsa at the centre of her maison and on the stage from which she once seduced the world.”

Levi’s collaborate with Liberty London.

Levi’s has teamed up with Liberty of London on a spring collection.
Levi’s has produced a selection of denim separates that feature two new Liberty prints – created exclusively for the partnership.

The partnership marks the first time that Levi’s women’s department has collaborated with another label.

“It’s been such an inspiring creative process to share our American heritage and perspective with this quintessential British brand to create a collection that is feminine and whimsical with a modern edge,” said Jenny Carlin, Levi’s senior designer.

The garden flower prints were based on a Liberty pattern from the Seventies – redrawn with watercolour pencils and put into a repeat design.

“Working with the world leader in denim has opened up our print house to a new global customer,” said Ed Burstell, Liberty London managing director. “We are honoured to be the first brand Levi’s has partnered with on their women’s line and can’t wait to have the collection swinging in our store.”

The Levi’s X Liberty London collection features 15 pieces including the famous Levi’s 501 shorts, a trucker jacket, boyfriend jeans, a bustier top and a selection of accessories, with prices ranging from £75 to £210.

The collection will be available now at Liberty London on Regent Street, and will be available online next month.
