Isabel Marant for H&M

H&M have just announced another stellar designer collaboration. This time it’s French designer Isabel Marant, the designer who propelled the wedge trainer into a must have trend.

Isabel Marant

“I am flattered by this collaboration: H&M works with the best designers and this invitation is an exciting honour,” said Marant. “I am creating something real, that women want to wear in their everyday lives, with a certain carelessness, which I think is very Parisian: you dress up, but do not pay too much attention and still look sexy. The collection is infused with this kind of easiness and attitude. Everything can be mixed following one’s own instincts: my take on fashion is all about personality.”

The collection will be clothing and accessories inspired by Marant’s signature Parisian style will be available in 250 stores worldwide as well as online from November 14th 2013

“We are excited to have Isabel Marant as a guest designer at H&M. The way she mixes different elements in her collections, creating a style that is effortless and urban, makes her very contemporary,” said Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M. “She has a fantastic eye for ethnic detail and the rare ability to create something that people really want to wear. We are sure the H&M customers will be enthusiastic about this collection.”

Lily Cole launches wild rubber jewellery line

Model Lily Cole has launched a line of sustainably-sourced rubber jewellery, with profits going towards saving one billion trees in the Amazon rainforest which will be stocked by

“It did feel like a bizarre idea at first,” Cole admits, speaking to the Telegraph, “When someone says ‘rubber jewellery’ – I didn’t really have a precedent in my head of what that looks like to be honest with you. But what we’re trying to do is look at the ways that consumers in the UK can engage with wild rubber, and by purchasing it, protect the rainforest.”

As the ambassador for Sky Rainforest Rescue, she considered a number of sustainability projects and settled on wild rainforest rubber sourced from Acre, northwest Brazil.

“Right now there isn’t a market distinction between wild rubber and plantation rubber,” she explains. “Essentially it costs more to produce wild rubber because it’s a much more manual, less industrialised process; local tappers have to go into the forest and tap the trees accordingly. In the short-term the land is more valuable for cattle farming, so currently there isn’t enough of a financial incentive to do wild rubber trading, to protect the forest from being deforested.”
