Monthly Archives: December 2013

It’s beginning to look…..

a lot like Christmas, New Year, annual leave and the time of year when we can eat, chill, drink, chill, watch rubbish tv, chill…… you get what I mean.

Are you all ready? Have you all decently embarrassed yourselves at the office party? Drank baileys and eaten chocolate for breakfast with your latte? Yes? well, then you are ready.

I am – finally! Ready to cook, eat, celebrate and hit the sales.

Don’t forget if you need to make some room in your closet for the new clothes and sales items – then have a little sale of your own on ClosetBox.

Merry Christmas!

Panic Buy???

Hey fashionistas, how are your festive preparations coming along?

I have spent the past week dashing through the shops on a mission to buy presents, decorations, tableware, crackers and a rude gift amounting to no more than £2.50 (don’t you just love secret santa)

Is it complete? Am I settled in front of an open fire sipping baileys, eating yule log and watching Richard Curtis movies? NOT!

I fear the trouble with shopping is that it is just too distracting. How can I possibly find presents for people when the shoe section is enticing me, as are the pre-Christmas discounts in most stores. Then there is coffee, lunch, a make-up trial at MAC and a neck massage – yes really, on the ground floor.

So, it is with the afore mentioned Baileys and open fire that I write this blog entry and purchase afore mentioned non-purchased Christmas presents online. Along with a number of others apparently, as forecasts* predict that December’s online sales will amount to 5 billion pounds.

So far,  I have ordered for the husband, mother-in-law, kid, brother and next door neighbour but one. All will be gift wrapped and delivered no later than Wednesday at 4.41pm –  and not one impulse purchase has been made for yours truly.

Here is my pick of the best online, fashion minded Christmas gifts, for him, her, them and us!

Are you suffering from Stuffocation?

This week saw a very interesting, and very relevant, feature in the Evening Standard about a 21st century problem penned as ‘Stuffocation’

The afflicted will find themselves in situations such as, writer James Wallman says, “Having a bulging wardrobe but not being able to find anything to wear, having to fight your way through piles of stuff that you do not use to find the thing that you need, and on receiving a present, not having the gut reaction of ‘thank you’ but rather ‘why would I want this?’. With up to half of Londoners now feeling this way.”

We are now realising that we do not need mountains of stuff for status, symbolism or material recognition but instead we  need to start streaming our lives, downsizing, recycling and reducing our waste.

He suggests thaat everyone should use the festive season wisely. Start by clearing out anything that is not needed anymore, and also think about your gift ideas. Do not buy more stuff, but opt for experiential presents instead. Make a memory not a mess!

Well, there is no easier place to start than ClosetBox. First clutter stop should always be the wardrobe. So, if you haven’t worn it for years or it doesn’t fit, then get camera snapping and posting – especially with our festive free listing code for the whole of December. Xmas2013

Get selling and enjoy the freedom. (and profit of course!)
