Designer Dolls

Whether it is funky teddy bears, painted elephants or decorated plates, I simply love a quirky campaign that requires a designer/artist to put their stamp on an alternative product – and even more so when it is in the name of charity.

The latest fundraiser is for UNICEF, and involves a number of design houses creating a one-off doll with the theme ‘Wonderful Paris’ in mind, to be sold at a UNICEF auction on December 2. The full collection will be on display at the Paris’s Petit Palais until December 1.

All proceeds will go towards providing vaccinations for children in the Darfur region of Sudan.
Here is some of the designs from the world’s most elite designers.

Jean Paul Gaultier for UNICEF

Rita Goes Punk

Via her wacky and wonderful world of Instagram, Rita Ora invited all of her followers into what looked to be a very exciting photo shoot this weekend.

Taking place at midnight on a rainy street in Paris, the pop goddess was with none other than Chanel Head Designer and Creative Director Karl Lagerfeld. Looking ultra stylish, Rita posted pictures whilst weraing a number of outfits that included a white fur coat, a full-length sequinned cape, black deer ears and antlers, all the while dripping in Chanel jewellery and pearls.

She also Tweeted ”Taking a midnight stroll with the man who inspires me to be glamorous at all times without a hint of doubt. Love you uncle Karl. #MidnightinPARIS (sic).”

Could Rita be the next muse for the ‘Karl Goes Punk’ campaign?

Tidla Swinton for Chanel’s Métiers d’Art Paris-Edinburgh collection

Tilda Swinton has landed a new role, as Karl Lagerfeld’s new muse. She is now the face of the 2012-13 Métiers d’Art Paris-Edinburgh collection, and now pictures from the campaign have been released.

Tilda Swinton is the perfect casting for Karl’s Scottish collection, which was inspired by Mary Queen of Scots. In the campaign she goes back to her Scottish roots, modelling tartan and Highland overcoats in front of medieval tapestries and oil paintings.

Karl said: ‘Tilda perfectly embodies the Paris-Edimbourg collection. She is of course Scottish, but more than that she is a modern woman, a timeless icon of elegance.’

Alice Dellal’s new look for Chanel

Model, musician and It girl Alice Dellal abandons her trademark punk style in her second campaign for Chanel’s Boy bag line.

The model’s trademark punk look has been replaced by pretty neck-tie blouses and prim cardigans, and the bourgeois décor for a statuesque white horse.
The new campaign has been shot by Karl Lagerfeld and also stars male model Jake White as the handsome horse handler.

What do you think of the campaign? Do you like Alice’s new look?

Georgia May Jagger for Material Girl

Georgia May Jagger is the new model fronting Madonna and her daughter Lourdes,  Material Girl line for a second season.

Wearing a selection of pieces from the brand’s spring collection including figure-hugging dresses and bold print leggings, the model posed in front of the iconic backdrop of Los Angeles. In one shot she is seen sipping a milkshake propped up against the counter of popular fast food chain In-n-Out burger.

Georgia, who has fronted campaigns for Chanel, Hudson Jeans and Sunglass Hut said ‘Material Girl is about having your own personal style and my personal style reflects the brand’s aesthetic. I like edgy clothes, and I really love the camouflage vest and cut out dresses for spring.’

Playing Victoria Beckham would be a ‘career killer’

Model of the moment Cara Delevingne might be in demand, but after being approached to play Victoria Beckham in the upcoming West End musical Viva Forever, she was advised by her agent that it would be a “career killer.”

The Burberry and Chanel model said: “They said I looked like her and I said, ‘That’s not cool, that’s really mean.”

She recently told Grazia : “I want to be in movies, directing movies, writing movies. I’d love to be in a movie with Meryl Streep or Martin Scorsese. There are so many different things I want to do like a possessed child or an evil something, I don’t know….”
