Rita Ora is the new Material Girl

Chart-topper Rita Ora debut modelling campaign for Madonna and her daughter’s label, Material Girl sees showcasing the capital’s most famous landmarks.

The 22-year-old was signed up as the face of Material Girl, which Madonna collaborates on with her 16-year-old daughter Lourdes in May. Taking over from fellow Brit Georgia May Jagger, she is rumoured to have been paid a £500,000 paycheck for fronting the label.

“What Material Girl means is just so much more than just a girl, it means confidence, it means belief and inspiration, and freedom to really express yourself,” said Rita.

Ora follows in the footsteps of Kelly Osbourne and Taylor Momsen, who have previously modelled for the teen-targeted, Eighties-centric label.

Rita Ora is the new face of Material Girl

Rita Ora had signed a lucrative $500,000 deal with Madonna and her daughter Lourdes to be the next face of their label Material Girl.


Rita will be following in the footsteps of fellow Brits Georgia May Jagger and Kelly Osborne who have previously fronted the Material Girl brand.

Rita took to Twitter to share the news that she is the brand news face of the brand, ‘Joining forces with Madonna and Lola. It’s official Ritabots – I’m the new face of Material Girl!’

Madonna said of her new campaign star: ‘Rita is a talented beauty but what really drew us to her is the confidence she oozes through her music and her unique sense of style. On stage or off, in photos or on the street – she’s a magnet! This is what the Material Girl brand is all about!’

Georgia May Jagger for Material Girl

Georgia May Jagger is the new model fronting Madonna and her daughter Lourdes,  Material Girl line for a second season.

Wearing a selection of pieces from the brand’s spring collection including figure-hugging dresses and bold print leggings, the model posed in front of the iconic backdrop of Los Angeles. In one shot she is seen sipping a milkshake propped up against the counter of popular fast food chain In-n-Out burger.


Georgia, who has fronted campaigns for Chanel, Hudson Jeans and Sunglass Hut said ‘Material Girl is about having your own personal style and my personal style reflects the brand’s aesthetic. I like edgy clothes, and I really love the camouflage vest and cut out dresses for spring.’

Rita Ora enlists Emilio Pucci to design her tour costumes

Following in the footsteps of the likes of Lady Gaga and Madonna, pop star Rita Ora has enlisted the help of a major fashion house to create the costumes for her first-ever live tour, which kicked off in Manchester earlier this week.


Peter Dundas, the creative director of Pucci, has worked with Rita to create pieces that accentuate her signature “urban glamour” look in the elaborate stage costumes.

“I was thrilled to design the costumes for Rita’s ‘Radioactive Tour’, from the moment I met Rita we’ve had a great connection and doing something like this together felt like only a natural progression,” said Dundas. “The costumes have impact and flamboyance in a way that feels personal to Rita whilst staying true to the Emilio Pucci aesthetic.”

Georgia May Jagger is the new face of Material Girl

Madonna and her daughter Lourdes have revealed the Material Girl’s fall 2012 advertising campaign which features Georgia May Jagger as the face of the label.

The daughter of Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall, Georgia May follows Kelly Osbourne as the new face for the new collection.

In a statement released by Iconix Brand Group, Madonna and Lourdes commented:
‘We think Georgia May has great style and perfectly captures the energy and free spirit of the Material Girl Fall line’.

Georgia May said: ‘I had so much fun shooting this campaign. I spent a lot of my childhood backstage hanging out around amps… ‘I had so much fun shooting this campaign. I spent a lot of my childhood backstage hanging out around amps.

The label is sold in Macy’s in America and is aimed at teens with a punk-pop teens with a punk-pop sensibility, the campaign debuts just before they return to school after the summer.

Macy’s customers love the collection’s fresh fashion and will be inspired by Georgia’s personal style and classic beauty.’
