Malaika Firth’s first ever campaign is the starring role in Prada’s autumn/winter 2013 advertising campaign which makes her the first black model to star in a Prada advert since Naomi Campbell in 1994.
Firth said she was “completely ecstatic” when she found out she had secured the campaign, which also stars Christy Turlington.
“The shoot was great,” she told The Telegraph. “Unfortunately I didn’t get to speak to Christy as she was busy with hair and makeup but she looked beautiful and also looks like a really lovely person.”
Firth’s potential was first spotted by her very own mother, who took it upon herself to call Premier Models and tell the agency of her daughter’s model credentials after watching Channel 4 documentary The Model Agency in 2011.

The best of British supermodels including Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell took centre stage for a tribute to British fashion at the Olympics 2012 Closing Ceremony last night.
Styled by Lucinda Chambers, Vogue magazine’s fashion director from backstage she said: “How did it look? I was terrified something was going to go wrong, I can’t tell you.” She added: “It’s incredible that Britain, such a tiny country, has such a broad range of talent in fashion, and that’s what we wanted to show. We’re known for bonkers fashion, but what I hope came across is that these designers make beautiful clothes… that people would want to wear.”
A nine strong supermodel team showed the best of British fashion including Erdem, Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, Vivenne Westwood and Burberry.
What did you think of the fashion moment at the closing ceremony?

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana made the surprise announcement yesterday that they would be closing their D&G line – just as an audience in Milan applauded the finale of the label’s latest – and now last – show!!! 😦 Although it must be said, they ended it all on a big fruity bling filled high!!!
“For the upcoming seasons, D&G will become part of Dolce & Gabbana, giving even more strength and energy to our collections,” they said in an emailed statement “To us, it’s like going back to when we began our adventure: full of ideas,” they said.
Dolce and Gabbana, whose dresses have been worn by stars such as Madonna and Monica Bellucci, launched D&G in 1994 to catch up with edgier, younger customers. But now it would seem they are ready to realign their focus onto the high-end world of fashion!!! Farewell D&G!!!

Can you imagine the COLLOSAL, GARGANTUAN, ASTRONOMIC number of applicants for a Vogue fashion college??!!
The school is set to open next September in a bid to create a more diversified education system in the UK!!! I know one thing for sure… My lectures would have flown if they were taught by Vogue editors, PR guru’s, creative geniuses, is it bad that I’m jealous of these lucky students already??!!!!
Conde Nast Group, who own Vogue say that they will offer courses in fashion history, design, events in the fashion year, journalism and business skills related to the industry, all the courses will last just 1 year!!! Oooh perfect short and sweet!!!
Managing Director of the company Nicholas Coleridge said: “Conde Nast is perfectly placed to enter the world of education. The reputation and authority of our brands puts us in a strong position to teach and inspire the fashion and decorating talent of the future.”
The college principal Susie Forbes is currently the editor of Easy Living and was deputy editor of British Vogue for five years, safe to say the students will be in safe hands 🙂
She said: “With access to some of the sharpest and most creative minds shaping the fashion, design and interiors industries today, we aim to educate students to the highest level. It makes perfect sense for Conde Nast to open its college doors in London, the fashion capital of the world.”
Tis all very exciting!!!

Congrats Queen B!!! So we all know she has conquered the world of pop and she has always been very open about her desire to start a family with hubby Jay -Z, who she hooked up with ten years ago, so it comes as no surprise that Beyonce revealed her baby bump at the weekend whilst on stage at the VMA’s **!! About time guys!!** She sang ‘Love on Top’ and winked at the audience when she belted the lyrics “I want you to feel the love that grows inside of me” aaaawwww sweet!
‘When you’re young – 18 or 19 – you have the energy and drive. That’s the time to work as hard as you can,’ she told the September issue of In Style, she also said ‘Now I’m a woman, and because I gave it my all, I can focus on my marriage. I can decide I want to have kids. I can be the mother I want to be and dedicate myself to my children.’ At the end of the performance for which she ditched her sequin hot-pants for a Dolce & Gabbana tuxe jacket and flared trousers, she popped open her jacket in a Ta Da moment that the crowd went crazy for!!!
Jay-Z beamed from the audience while Kanye patted his friend on the back in congratulations!!!
She looked positively glowing..(when doesn’t she??!!) as she posed for the camera’s after the ceremony, in a beautiful orange floor length Lanvin gown!!
We honestly cannot wait to see what yummy mummy looks unfold over the coming months… Congrats again Queen B!!!
