The £3,000 dress.. for 45 quid!

Who else but Peacocks causing a stir with their market stall prices..

Hundreds of customers have been calling Peacocks’ customer service to secure a piece of Pearl’s fifth limited-edition collection, which lands in selected Peacocks’ stores and online this Sunday.

The most sought after style is Pearl Lowe for Peacocks’ black lace prom £45, which is a version of the £3,000 bridesmaid dress Daisy wore at Pearl’s wedding to Supergrass drummer, Danny Goffey in 2008.

Pearl says she was delighted and honoured by the response.

‘My wedding day was completely magical and my black lace prom dress captures the style and essence with vintage styling and a classic air.

‘I feel honoured that girls across the country will be having their own special days at their Christmas parties and nights out this year and for years to come, wearing one of my designs.’

After several of the country’s leading newspaper and magazine fashion editors wore the vintage-style tea dress to London and New York fashion weeks, celebrities began contacting the High Street store wanting to buy one.

So far Natalie Imbruglia and Sharlene Spiteri have jumped in quick while Courtney Love has been pleading on Twitter for a dress to be sent over to her in New York..

And last week television presenter Holly Willoughby wore it live on This Morning after waiting several weeks for one in her size….

In more believable news, it’s the first time in the 135 year history anything from Peacocks has been in demand… Got yours yet?

It’s like the furby all over again…

Pearl Lowe launches Xmas Peacocks range

I was down at the Connaught for the hotly anticipated new range from Pearl Lowe for Peacocks.

Ever since she started the collaboration, sales have gone through the roof and the demand just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Now I may disagree with the notion that Pearl Lowe is responsible for bringing vintage back into vogue, her collections are definitely in the must-have category.

Pearl’s Christmas collection will mark her fifth collaboration with Peacocks and features delicate party dresses, faux fur coats and ornate tops, all offering customers’ designer fashion for under £60. For her latest collection, Pearl took inspiration from the twenties, fifties and sixties to create her decedent collection of vintage inspired party wear.

The range will launch in selected Peacocks’ stores and online November 2010, with prices starting from £25 for a gold shimmering cardigan to £60 for her faux leopard print mod coat. All fashion will be available in sizes 8 to 16.

Pearl Lowe said: “My Christmas collection is less about a particular decade and more about individual pieces that have inspired me and blending them together to create a collection of party dresses that are easy to wear and look fabulous.”

Peacocks tells shoppers to jump in line for Pearl Lowe’s latest range

Who woulda thought it? Such is the demand for Peacocks’ latest collaboration with Pearl Lowe they’re actually having to implement a waiting list to avoid a veritable stampede.

Her fourth collection debuts this Sunday as her vintage-inspired collection hits stores and the web – and pre-orders are through the roof. I can certainly understand why, this surely has to become a permanent fixture!

Most popular styles are Pearl’s black pleated dress with cream lace collar £35, her black signature lace tea dress £30 and floral shirt dress £30 which are expected to be an instant sell out after being seen on Pearl’s daughter Daisy at last month’s music festivals. Other celebrities to be seen swathed in Pearl’s designs include Jamie Winstone, Holly Willoughby and Alexa Chung.

“For my autumn collection I looked to great women of the past for inspiration,” said Pearl Lowe. “I’ve always adored the classic style of Hollywood legends, in particular Louise Brooks and Greta Garbo, and wanted to create a collection that captured their magic and femininity. I’m so excited to be bringing timeless Hollywood style back to the high street.”

Personally I haven’t missed a collection yet and I’m sure I’ll be snapping up everything from this 12 piece set as quick as I can!

Prices start from £18 for a crochet poncho to £35 for an ornate tea dress, and available in sizes 8 to 16.
